Regents Prep Global Examinations

NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The Regents exams start on June 15 this year for the students of New York. After completing two years of studies in global history and geography students will appear for the exam from which they can obtain their NYS Regents Diploma. The exam which covers the 5 social studies standards of the US will have three main parts. The students will be tested in the following subjects- U.S. History, World History, Geography, Economics, Civics, Citizenship and Government. The exams are held every year for students at the end of their 10 Grade in January, June and August. The Exams in June which start on Tuesday will continue till the next Wednesday. There will be two sessions (each 3 hours) per day with one at 9:15 am and the second at 1:15 pm.

The three main parts of the Regents exam are divided according to the question pattern in each paper. The first part that holds more than 55% of the total marks has around 50 multiple choice questions. Part II which comprises of 15% of the marks requires students to write one thematic essay which is well organized with an introduction and conclusion. The essay must also address a specific task. The third part is subdivided into two more sections, both holding 15% of the marks. The first among them has 8 short questions that need to be answered from the supporting documents provided with the paper. The second part requires students to write a well organized essay that is supported by at least four of the provided documents.

Various topics ranging from ancient civilization to developments in the 21st century are covered in the global history subject. Several independent organizations provide tips and sample papers for the aspiring students who sit for the Regents examination.
