GURDASPUR - Nearly 25 old bombs have been found inside the premises of a school in the border district town of Gurdaspur in Punjab, an official said Thursday.

The school, Little Flower Convent, was closed for the day as the police cordoned off the area.

“The bombs that have been found look very old. Even their markings cannot be read properly. These were dug out during construction work inside the school premises,” Superintendent of Police Charanjit Singh told IANS.

“We have sought the help of army to take away the bombs and find out how they landed here,” the police officer said.

Gurdaspur town in north Punjab shares its border with Pakistan. The Indian side of the border has an electric barbed wire fence.
