Obama to recognize historically black colleges

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama plans to highlight the role historically black colleges have played in America’s educational system.

Obama will speak about that role and sign an executive order for the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the East Room on Friday afternoon.

The event is designed to demonstrate the administration’s commitment to assisting historically black colleges accomplish their educational mission.
