Obama to visit Virginia elementary school
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama travels to a Virginia school Tuesday to talk about his efforts to improve education.
Obama will hold a group discussion in the morning with sixth-graders at Graham Road Elementary in Falls Church, Va. He’ll talk about his Race to the Top program, which offers grants to states and school districts that change their policies to emphasize performance rather than simply getting federal money every year regardless of how well they teach.
Later, the president meets in the Oval Office with Republican Sen. George Voinovich (VOYN’-uh-vihch) of Ohio. He’ll also have lunch with Vice President Joe Biden, get his daily economic briefing and meet with senior advisers.
