Abu Dhabi, Oct 8 (IANS/WAM) School students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will undergo special cyber security training to learn various safety measures while using the internet.
A series of lessons will be offered to school children during an “information security awareness camp” launched across the nation by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council).
The lessons are specifically designed to raise awareness of the students regarding the online threats that might endanger them while using the internet. The programme will also educate students about optimal use of the social networking sites and how to avoid suspicious websites.
“The National Computer Emergency Response Team puts children on top of its priorities and is committed to educate students on how to adopt secure online behaviours while using the internet,” said Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.
According to recent surveys, 60 percent of children and teenagers use chat rooms on a daily basis; three in four children are ready to reveal personal information in exchange of goods or services, one in five of those teenagers are vulnerable to cyber crime.
