Obama highlighting community colleges
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is shining a spotlight on community colleges.
The president is attending the White House Summit on Community Colleges on Tuesday and plans to make the case that they play a critical role in developing America’s workforce and in helping the nation reach its educational goals.
Earlier in the day, he’s scheduled to sign a bill granting the Congressional Gold Medal to the Army’s 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team in recognition of their service during World War II.
In the afternoon, the president and the first lady will host a reception for the foreign diplomatic corps.
And in the evening, Obama speaks at Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women Summit, addressing the impact of women in business.
