Turner has 4 touchdowns, 210 yards rushing in Nicholls State’s 44-28 win over Bacone College

Nicholls State routs Bacone College 44-28

THIBODAUX, La. — Jesse Turner ran for four touchdowns and 210 yards as Nicholls State defeated Bacone College 44-28 on Saturday.

The Colonels (1-3) trailed 7-3 after the first quarter before Turner turned two of his 15 carries into second-quarter touchdowns. Turner’s first score came from 13 yards out with 8:33 left in the quarter, and the second was an 87-yarder with 5:18 left until halftime.

The Warriors (1-3) struck first in the second half with Michael Cook finding Joseph Morris for scores of 2 and 4 yards.

The Colonels, however, then pulled away on their second big play of the game, a 52-yard touchdown pass from LaQuintin Caston to Chucky Nichols for a 24-20 lead.

Caston finished with 108 yards on 13 carries and 73 yards and four interceptions on 4-for-18 passing.

Cook led Bacone College with 203 yards on 23-for-53 passing.
