Yellow lobster found in RI bay headed to college
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A rare yellow lobster pulled from Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay is heading to college.
Lobsterman Denny Ingram said Wednesday that the yellow lobster will be moving to the aquarium at the University of Rhode Island’s Bay Campus in Narragansett.
Ingram caught the lobster and temporarily made it available for display in the lobstermen’s co-op building at the State Pier in Newport.
The manager of seawater facilities at the university says he plans to give the yellow lobster some squid and a quiet corner of a tank so it can recover from all the attention it has sparked.
Yellow lobsters are considered to be a one-in-30-million find.
