Obama’s day: Oil briefing; high school address
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama starts the week with a briefing on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and a trip to Michigan to address a high school graduating class.
Efforts to contain the flow of oil are making progress, but Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen warns the crisis could stretch into the fall. Obama and Cabinet members will get a briefing from Allen Monday.
Later in the day, Obama travels to Michigan, where he will deliver the commencement address to the Kalamazoo Central High School Class of 2010. That address is the students’ prize for winning a competition in the administration’s “Race to the Top” school improvement program.
