Kansas back on top of AP basketball poll

Kansas is back at No. 1.

After a week out of the top spot in The Associated Press’ college basketball poll, the Jayhawks replaced Syracuse and were a near unanimous choice Monday.

They received 63 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel. It marks their 14th week at No. 1 this season and they have not been ranked lower than third.

Kentucky moves up one place to second and had the other first-place votes. Syracuse had moved into the top spot last week for the first time since 1990. The Orange drop to third after losing to Louisville.

Duke held fourth while Ohio State and Purdue move up one place to fifth and sixth. West Virginia, New Mexico, Kansas State and Villanova round out the top 10.
