Buffalo hires Dietzel to coach DBs, special teams
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Rookie head coach Jeff Quinn has filled out his University at Buffalo staff by hiring Mike Dietzel to coach defensive backs and serve as co-special teams coordinator.
Hired on Friday, Dietzel spent the past seven years as a defensive coach at Western Kentucky, including three seasons as coordinator. Dietzel has 24 years of coaching experience and is familiar with the Mid-American Conference after spending 2001-02 as defensive coordinator at Kent State.
Quinn, who took over the Bulls following Turner Gill’s departure to Kansas last month, also hired Charley Molnar and Jon Carpenter as graduate assistant coaches. Carpenter spent the past two years at Cincinnati, where Quinn served as the Bearcats offensive coordinator.
