Obama to honor teachers from across the country
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is recognizing teachers from across the country for excellence in math and science.
The White House says Obama more than 80 teachers are expected to attend Wednesday’s event, where the president will announce new partnerships to help achieve his goal of moving U.S. students to the top of the pack in science and math achievement over the next decade.
Wednesday’s event is part of Obama’s “Educate to Innovate” campaign for excellence in science, technology, engineering and math.
In November, the president announced a series of partnerships with leading corporations, foundations, nonprofit groups and science and engineering societies to help motivate young people to excel in science and math.
