Sibal stresses on promoting Urdu

NEW DELHI - A national strategy is needed to preserve the heritage of the Urdu language, Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said here Wednesday.

We need to preserve the past and at the same time need to make the study of Urdu relevant as regards the aspiration of the youth, Sibal said while addressing a meeting of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL).

The minister said that promotion of liberal arts associated with the Urdu language like calligraphy, painting and ghazal singing would also be put on fast track.

Sibal added that the National Vocational Educational Qualification Framework being developed by the government will also focus on this matter.

Efforts will be made to associate vocational education with this effort, Sibal said.
