NEW DELHI - Nearly 300 school children here Tuesday walked to promote the Delhi Commonwealth Games and lend the much-needed boost to the Oct 3-14 mega event.

Carrying colourful posters and placards, the students came up with interesting slogans on facts and sporting history of the Games.

The walk, organised by the Modern School, started from the school ground and ended at the Commonwealth Games office at Jantar Mantar.

“So much of negativity had surrounded the Games that children were discussing falling ceilings and scams instead of sports. We wanted them to take CWG in a positive way,” Lata Vaidyanathan, the principal of Modern School, Barakhamba Road, told IANS.

“It was overwhelming to see such a great response from the kids,” Vaidyanathan said.

The students would also organise weekly quizzes and interactive sessions on the history of the Games.
