LUCKNOW - A government university in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district has come up with an online service - Students’ Talent Bank (STB) - to provide regular job offers to varsity students, officials said Monday.

The officials claimed that the STB service of the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU) was the first-of-its-kind initiative undertaken by a government university in the country.

They believe it would immensely help over three lakh students enrolled in various courses of the university.

The free-of-cost STB service would be formally launched by the MJPRU authorities Monday evening during a function.

“The STB service will exclusively cater to the needs of our university. Students opting for the STB service would be provided with suitable job offers regularly,” MJPRU Deputy Chief Employment Officer Sumit Mishra told IANS on telephone from Bareilly, some 300 km from Lucknow.

Students interested in availing the service will have to first fill an online registration form available on the varsity’s website www.mjpru.ac.in.

After the registration, students will have to send their marksheets and other certificates. Thereafter, post-verification the profile of students with necessary details will be available on the website, from where it could be accessed by employers.

“To assist our students in getting jobs, we have roped in several private employers and companies from different fields like engineering and technology, applied sciences, allied sciences, management and commerce,” said Mishra.

“Students registered with the talent bank will get job offers through various means. While any employer could directly call the student on his/her mobile phone, we would also send e-mails regarding career openings or job vacancies to the students on their registered e-mail address,” added Mishra.

Asked how the STB service is different from normal placement agency or job portals, Mishra said: “Unlike job portals that cater to a wide range of job seekers, we will focus only on limited number of students. Moreover, we would also arrange interviews for our students. Normally a placement agency or a job portal does not offer such a service without charging money.”

According to varsity officials, those who have passed out of the varsity even earlier could also avail of the STB services.
