Ky. libraries to benefit from stimulus money
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky is receiving more than $1.3 million in federal stimulus money to increase computer access at public libraries.
Gov. Steve Beshear’s office says the money will be used to expand the number of computer workstations available to Kentuckians at public libraries.
Beshear says the funding will help people without access to computers and broadband service, allowing them to use technology to access training, jobs and other economic opportunities. Beshear says libraries have become an important access point for people to search for jobs, write resumes and learn computer skills.
The governor’s office says the federal grant will fund about 520 new public computer workstations, enhance 300 more workstations and upgrade 60 public libraries in the state.
