LANSING (GaeaTimes.com)- School teachers from all over the state of Michigan participated in a rally at the state capitol with an aim to increase the funding for education in the state. The rally for the teachers was organized by Michigan Education Association which happens be the largest teachers association of the state.
On the other hand, Lansing has already witnessed several demonstrations and protests as the fight for budget continues. On Thursday, the teachers rally was criticized strongly by the lawmakers of Michigan. The teachers carried a sign which read “Enough Is Enough” that strongly raises it’s fingers against the educational system which is devoid of the adequate funding. The rally had the teachers from Sturgis Public Schools leading the crowd from the front in the state capital. When asked about their decision to organize the rally the teachers told the media that they feel that education in the state demands more funding which is a serious issue and has to be addressed at any cost. The teachers are also against the new rule which deducts 3 percent of the teachers salaries for the retiree health funds.
The teachers working in the district schools are however safe from any budget cuts in the future owing to the aid surplus of the school. However, it was said that some of the Republican lawmakers have expressed their desire to alter the situation according to their own will. The teachers said that they will see the end of it and shall continue with their “Enough Is Enough” campaign which they feel shall have a strong influence upon the ballot boxes.
