IP University Disaster Management Studies Center shall train the officials in satellite data reading, and in the interpretation of GIS (Geographic Information System) which shall give them a better insight in to the terrain of the area where they are stationed. Dr Amarjeet Kaur who happens to be the Director for Department of disaster management studies at IP University told the media that the paramilitary officers shall be trained in a way which shall help them to have a better understanding of the data and the images which are collected by the satellite.

IP University shall train CRPF, ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) and BSF (Border Security Force) which happens to be three primary paramilitary forces who have been battling it out with the Maoits for over a year now. Any knowledge imparted to them regarding the topography of the dense forests shall help them to plan out their operations in an effective way. The department of disaster management studies director said that IP University has previously trained the Andhra Pradesh “Greyhounds” forces which helped them to understand the technology of satellite data reading and the benefits that can be derived from it. Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Jharkhand are the three regions which are said to have been affected heavily by the Maoists and so as a result the paramilitary officers will be benefited from the IP University training and shall be able to combat the Maoists efficiently.
