Anamika Veeramani Wins Spelling Bee

Anamika Veeramani thanked her family and said that her mother played an important role in preparing her for the competition. Her brother who is good at geography also helped her out with the geographical words. The 8th grader who tied at the 5th place in last year’s competition, won a $30000 cash prize, a $2500 savings bond and a $2700 in reference books from Encyclopedia Britannica. Post win she revealed that she aims to be a cardiovascular surgeon and also write books in high school. Anamika Veeramani showed her cool during the competition that already had a lot of lights and camera and adjustment due to ABC’s broadcasting.
The commercial breaks and the cameraadjustmentsmight have been distracting for the contestants Anamika Veeramani was unperturbed and focused throughout. The competition saw its first shock in elimination of this years favorite Tim Ruiter in the fourth round. The youngest contestant in this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship was 8 year old Vanya Shivashankar. Children between ages 8 to 15 participated in the competition with 80% between the ages 12 and 14.
