CBSE Class 10 girls outperform boys in Allahabad region

LUCKNOW - Girls outperformed boys in Allahabad region in this year’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 exams the results for which were announced Friday.
The pass percentage of girls was 91.99 as compared to 88.20 for boys, an official said.
The overall pass percentage has come down to 89.52 this year compared to 90.19 in the previous year. The CBSE Allahabad region comprises Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Orissa.
According to a press statement, a total of 247,508 students appeared as regular candidates in the Class 10 exams, of which 161,342 were boys and 86,166 were girls.
Of the six states under the CBSE Allahabad region, Orissa topped the list with a pass percentage of 95.49 and was followed by West Bengal with 91.77. Jharkhand had a pass percentage of 91.43, Bihar 91.20, Uttar Pradesh 87.90 and Uttarakhand 87.77.
There are around 22,050 schools affiliated to the CBSE board under its Allahabad regional centre, in Allahabad district, about 200 km from Lucknow.
