KOLKATA - Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Chairman Vineet Joshi Saturday said project work given to the schoolchildren should be a fun activity done collectively in class and should not be carried home to add to their parents’ load.

“The projects given to the students are supposed to be done in groups and in the class. It should be made more joyful and as it is a part of learning process,” Joshi said.

“It should not become an extension of work to be done at home or by parents. It also should not be outsourced from shops,” Joshi said while addressing an interactive session here.

The session witnessed a volley of questions from parents of the students of CBSE schools who claimed that project works given to students under the continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system, in most cases, leads to no learning and adds to the pressure on students.

Project works under the CCE is done to enhance the self-learning and study skills through in-class activities, added Joshi.
