India girl pays for school uniform with life

A teenaged girl in India was brutally killed and her body buried in a field by her parents after she asked them to buy her school uniform, police said today.

Police said Soni Kumari, a Class VIII girl from a government middle school in east Champaran district in Bihar, asked her parents to purchase school uniform after being warned of actions by the school administration

“Vexed at victim’s insistence, angry family members beat her to death and buried her body in a nearby field. They even ploughed the field to hide the evidence”, a local police officer Ganesh Ram who investigated the case said today.

The police officer said the police were conducting raids to arrest the absconding accused persons.
