Police call off search for missing ex-UCLA student
GLENDALE, Calif. — California police have called off a ground search for a former UCLA student who went missing during a morning run, but they’re still investigating her disappearance.
Sgt. Tom Lorenz says detectives are examining cell phone and computer records for clues to the disappearance of 22-year-old Nancy Salas, who vanished Wednesday after a run in a canyon northeast of Los Angeles. Her keys, cell phone and car were left at her family’s Glendale home, and Lorenz calls her disappearance suspicious.
Police, rangers, bloodhounds and a helicopter searched late into the night without success. Lorenz says the official search ended around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
However, friends and family members continue to distribute flyers with her photo and have set up Facebook and websites seeking help.
