Colorado high school cancels classes after threat

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Classes at a Colorado high school are canceled and students have been searched for weapons and sent home after administrators found an online threat.

A spokesman for the Adams County School District would not release details of the threat at Westminster High School, including whether administrators found it on a social networking site or blog.

Officials locked down the school and called for extra law enforcement at around 7 a.m. Wednesday, about an hour after students arrived for first period.

Spokesman Jason Kosena says the campus remains locked down as sheriff’s deputies search the school.

The threat comes a day after the 11th anniversary of the deadly shootings at Columbine High School.

Westminster is about 12 miles north of Denver.
