CHANDIGARH - Punjab-based Aryans Business School (ABS) has become the first B-school in the region to get membership of US-based accreditation body ‘Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business’ (AACSB).

The membership certificate was granted by AACSB vice president and chief officer Asia Eileen Peacock to ABS at the Singapore-based Asian headquarters of AACSB, ABS chairman Anshu Kataria told IANS.

“With the AACSB membership, Aryans would get a platform to exhibit its talent and leadership globally. On the one hand existing students would get benefit in placements, on the other hand it would give us a platform to tap international market. India is becoming a hot choice for education for students around the globe,” Kataria said.

He added that world famous Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg and London business schools are accredited member of AACSB. In India, around 15 business schools including S.P. Jain, XLRI, IIM-Kolkata (Calcutta) and ISB-Hyderabad are part of the AACSB.

Expressing pleasure on the institute getting its first international membership, Kataria said with tough visa norms and high cost of living, the number of students going to US, Europe, Australia would come down and India would be a preferred destination for education specially for MBA courses.

The ABS is located in Nepra village of Punjab, about 25 km from Chandigarh.
