Srinivasa Ramanujan’s 91st Birthday Observed In Chennai

CHENNAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It is the 91st birth anniversary of one of the most renowned mathematician of the nation, Srinivasa Ramanujan as the whole nation thrives itself to pay homage to the genius.

Professor R Sivaraman, founder of Pie Mathematics Association, is all set to deliver a lecture to his students regarding the great man, his formula and his unique contribution to the world of maths. He said that everyone is aware that Srinivasa Ramanujan was a great mathematician, however, very few of them know about the great mathematical formulae he invented. It gives the professor a real delight to see how his formulae are working out just as he expected them to be. He took this opportunity to tell his students how the great man derived the value of pi’ to the millionth decimal place, at the time, when several other mathematicians were struggling to come at the same conclusion. The professor and other members of his family are planning to organize a lecture on Srinivasa Ramanujan at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences today. His son, Kannan Srinivasan said that they are intending to display a video, where some of the friends and family members of Srinivasa Ramanujan would share their experiences with the late mathematical genius.

Some of the great works of Srinivasa Ramanujan include, Ramanujan prime and the Ramanujan theta function, crystallography and string theory, that has further opened the scope for many more mathematical researches. He was born in 22 December 1887 and had his unfortunate demise on 26 April 1920. Within 32 years, his contribution to modern mathematics has remained unparalleled.
