NEW DELHI - The confusion prevailing over nursery school admissions in Delhi is expected to be over Wednesday as the government would issue a formulated guideline system, Delhi’s Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said Monday.

“The guidelines will come on Wednesday. We will find out a way in which parents and students are not harassed,” Lovely said.

Private schools and the Delhi government have been at loggerheads over the replacement of current point system with the lottery system.

While school associations have already reached the consensus of not applying lottery system, the Delhi government hinted at a guidline system that included both lottery system and points system.

An official said the guidelines will incorporate both good points system and lottery system.

At present, schools follow a points-based system under which applicants are selected on the basis of points awarded to them on various parameters - a process schools insist should be continued.

The Right to Education Act, implemented this April, bans any kind of screening of the child or parents at the time of admission to a school.
