‘IGNOU committed to promoting Hindi’

NEW DELHI - The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is committed to conserving and promoting the Hindi language, Vice Chancellor V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai Thursday said.
“Keeping in mind the government policies about the conservation of Indian languages, we leave no stone unturned to publish most of our courses in Hindi,” Pillai said in a release here.
He added that the sudden spurt in the number of programmes offered by the university coupled with a dynamic approach towards education, training and capacity building has produced 11 lakh professionals in last 25 years.
The central government has announced that the current decade (2010-2020) is that of innovation and the country aims to strive towards an overall sustained development. It also focuses to reach the peak in the field of education and development. Our university is well established in this case, Pillai said.
“The university is equipped with 61 regional centres and 3,500 study centres. It is the flexibility and diversity of the programmes offered by the university which has deemed it the status and attracted such a large pool of students,” he added.
