LUCKNOW - ‘Wonder Kid’ Sushma Verma, who holds the distinction of being the country’s youngest matriculate at the age of seven, will now pursue her graduation from Lucknow University at the age of 10.
University authorities Tuesday approved the application moved by Verma’s parents a few months ago for enrolling their daughter in a science graduation programme.
“I am thankful to the university authorities for being so considerate. I am sure that with her hard work and sincerity, my daughter will one day make the entire university administration proud,” Verma’s father Tej Bahadur told IANS on telephone.
Lucknow University spokesperson S.K. Dwivedi said: “We should encourage every talented girl like Sushma. We hope with our decision the girl would inch closer to realise her dreams.”
After clearing class 12 this year, Verma had taken admission in a degree college on a provisional basis.
“The college authorities had categorically told us that they would allow Sushma to take her B.Sc exams only if Lucknow University permits her for the same. Now, as the final decision has been taken, my daughter will sit in the exams and I am sure she would pass with flying colours,” Bahadur said.
Born in Feb 2000, Verma cleared class 10 in 2007 with 59 percent and class 12 this year with 62 percent. Due to some reasons, Sushma had to clear her class 11 in two years.
“As my daughter cherishes the dream of becoming a doctor, she told us to enroll herself for a B.Sc course with Zoology, Botany and Chemistry as her subjects,” Bahadur said.
