BHOPAL - The chairman of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committees minority department Friday alleged that there has been deliberate negligence in the selection of teaching faculty from the Muslim community in state universities during the last five years.

Haji Mohammad Haroon Friday submitted a memorandum in this regard to Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who is also the chancellor of the state’s universities.

He urged the governor to take immediate action and direct the respective vice chancellors to select Muslim intellectuals and academicians for teaching posts and nominate them in the executive councils of Madhya Pradesh universities.

The memorandum said that in the last five years no professors, readers, lecturers, librarians or even class-III employees were selected from the community in any subject despite their possessing requisite qualifications.

Haroon pointed out that the vice chancellors of Madhya Pradesh have neglected the representation of the Muslim community even in the executive councils of the universities or for the appointment to the posts of rectors in the universities.

A copy of the memorandum has also been sent to the union Minister of Minority Affairs Salman Khursheed.
