Abu Dhabi, Dec 18 (IANS/WAM) The UAE plans to set up an Aerospace Research and Innovation Centre (ARIC) in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with global academic and industrial institutions, it was announced Saturday.
The Khalifa University and Mubadala Aerospace have signed an MoU to set up the centre at the university’s campus here.
The centre is the first step towards setting up an academic research consortium led by the university in collaboration with local and global academic and industrial institutions.
The ARIC’s research hub in the UAE will develop new technologies for the aerospace sector.
Jasim Al Ali, senior business development manager of Mubadala Aerospace, said: “We are committed to fostering greater collaboration between Abu Dhabi academic entities and the aerospace sector, as research and innovation is an imperative cornerstone of building Abu Dhabi’s aerospace industry for the future.”
“One of the consortium’s key objectives will be to develop innovations that have an international commercial applicability through maximising collaboration between academic and industrial organisations.”
“It will also provide technology exchange and internship opportunities for UAE nationals,” he said.
“Mubadala Aerospace will give guidance on technology and offer exposure to its international partners such as Boeing, Airbus and GE,” he added.
