Health camp for municipal school students in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Spearheading the move to sensitise children on the importance of hygiene, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Global Hygiene Council (GHC) Monday organized a health camp at a MCD primary school in the capital.

The event saw a team of experts giving a health talk in the school, apart from holding a dental and eye check-up, and immunization of the students.

The aim is to create health awareness among MCD school teachers and students to educate them on public hygiene, said V.K. Monga, chairperson of the municipal health committee in Delhi.

The experts gave a talk on personal hygiene and hand washing to keep infections at bay.

Good hygiene is the first line of defence against spread of many illnesses. Children spend their maximum time in schools, so they should be well aware about infections and diseases, said Narendra Saini, president of Indian Medical Association (IMA).

All schools should proactively take measures to encourage students to adopt healthy practices, Saini added.

The event was a joint venture by the MCD and GHC at MCD school, Subhash Park in east Delhi.
