NEW DELHI - In a survey conducted by Bangalore’s India Foundation for the Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia University’s “Centre for Culture, Media & Governance” (CCMG) has been rated as a “Centre with Potential for Excellence”.

The survey called “Arts and Humanities Research Mapping, India” has listed 12 such centres in the country with CCMG being one of them.

“The centres have been chosen on the quality of the research programmes, the perception of the institution among members of the academic community in India and abroad and its contribution to the specific field of research and to the larger domain of the arts and humanities,” says the report.

According to the report, CCGM seeks to enhance the integration and development of interdisciplinary research into media and culture in India and South Asia. Various programmes have been envisaged and are in the process of implementation.

The report further expects that an archive of media research data would be created for researchers across South Asia. It will inculcate comparative perspectives across disciplines and regions and build networks of media scholars, policy analysts, social scientists, civil society actors and media professionals.
