San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) - One of the greatest painters of the last century, Frida Kahlo de Rivera was born in this day of 1907. The Mexican celebrity painter was born in Coyoacn, a very small town in Mexico City. Today is her 103rd birthday. She was enough proficient to make understand real life emotions through paintings. Many colors on the canvas reflect the pain and passion of human beings. Influenced by folk art, European Realism, Symbolism, and Surrealism can be found in her picture. Her pictures were the deadly combination of fantasy and facts. Many of her works are self portrait.
Her parents were Matilde Caldern y Gonzalez and Guillermo Kahlo. As per family background, her father was German photographer who migrated to Mexico and she had two older sisters and one younger sister. Her personal life was not so smooth like her professional career. At the age of 6 she was affected by polio. After spending 9 months in bed she became little bit fit but her right foot and was partially damaged. But her parents continuously encouraged her to do swimming, playing soccer etc such that she could get recovery earlier. In 1922, she was admitted to the renowned National Preparatory School. In the year 1925, at the age of 18 she faced a terrible bus accident. Her spinal column was broken and two legs were completely injured. After this incident she was bedfast for months and gradually she regained the ability to walk. Kahlo met Diego Rivera in the year 1928 and got married with him in the next year. Diego Rivera was a Mexican communist. The couple divorced each other in 1939 but remarried in the next year. Out of total 143 paintings 55 were the self portraits. This legendary artist breathed her last on July 13, 1954.
