NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In a recent move, AICTE or the All India Council of Technical Education has given its nod for 545 technical educational institutions. These institutes will offer professional courses in management and engineering. There are some MCA institutes as well. This new order will become effective in the 2010-11 academic sessions as it has been reported. The nod from the executive council of AICTE will send the total seats in several streams increases by the margin of 100000. The overall number of institutes offering technical courses in India has reached 7906 after this order.
Among the 545 newly approved institutes 60 per cent offer courses in management while 30 percent offer engineering courses. The rest of the AICTE approved institutes offer courses in various streams like hotel management, pharmacy and architecture. In this year than 2000 new institutes applied for approval from AICTE. Out of them, 1600 institutes got rejected after the AICTE found they lacked the required parameter and infrastructure. There were a number of institutes that applied for approval to AICTE but then did not follow the procedures and formalities completely.
After getting the AICTE approval, these new institutes can start offering their courses from July this year. AICTE had earlier drawn flaks for numerous reasons and fate that it gave a revamp to its earlier approval procedure. The online registration process is a result of the change. The number of technical institutes in the country is only going up with time. Therefore AICTE has been thinking of brining up a new system in the selection and approval.
