NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- On Monday The Delhi Court instructed the Delhi University Teacher’s Association not to cause any disruption in the admission process. Justice A K Pathak gave the verdict that DUTA which is not accepting the implementation of the semester system in the curriculum of the university cannot cause trouble in the admission for the year 2010-11. The high court has also asked DUTA to file its answer by August 16 on the issue. The Delhi University had to approach the high court after principals of several colleges associated with it reported that the teachers are not cooperating with the admission process.

The Delhi high court said that the non co operation of the DUTA can jeopardize the future of thousands of students who want to apply for various courses in Delhi University affiliated colleges. The university petition filed in the high court also asked to stop the teachers belonging to DUTA from resorting to any kind of protests. The University implemented the semester system after getting a letter from UGC. DUTA was totally opposed to its introduction. As of now the semester system has been implemented for science related courses in the university.

The Delhi University management and the DUTA have been at loggerheads over the semester system but after the High Court directive the university authorities have got an upper hand for sure. It has not been reported whether the DUTA is thinking of challenging the high court directive and it would file a petition in the apex court. However, the high court directive has come as a boon for the aspiring students seeking admission in Delhi University.
