Delhi University Is A Radioactive Polluter

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The AERB (Atomic Energy Regulatory Board) has called Delhi University to be the sole violator of radioactive waste disposal and the norms associated with it. Reportedly, the whole affair is a follow up action to the Mayapuri Radiation leak which is raising all fingers at Delhi University.
Delhi Police officials told the media that inspite of numerous requests, the authorities of Delhi University has not yet submitted the related documents for the gamma cell sales. The police also said that they are still looking out for some answers from Delhi University which has been hurled against the organization by the investigators. The police also said that AERB has asked them to issue orders to concertize all roads and by lanes of the Mayapuri scrap market to minimize the level of radiation. They fear that there are still some traces of radiation which if not taken care can be harmful for one and all. It was said that the government shall soon shift it’s focus on this matter and a conclusion is soon to be witnessed.
On the other hand, AERB which is solely responsible for the regulation and monitoring of the safety of nuclear facilities said that in the past few years a total of more than 800 organizations have approached the organization. All have been asking AERB for the decommissioning of the nuclear material. AERB officials told the media that up till now there had been no such cases of disposal of radioactive material which violates the Atomic Energy safe disposal of radioactive waste Rules of 1987. However the only exception being the sale of gamma cells which were auctioned by Delhi University. The police has issued its final request to Delhi University and have demanded an answer in an urgent note.
