GNDU Gets Synthetic Hockey Surface

AMRITSAR, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- GNDU (Guru Nanak Dev University) recently witnessed an upgrade to Synthetic Hockey Polyprolene Turf at Amritsar which was inaugurated by Dr. Manohar Singh Gill. Reportedly, Dr. Manohar Singh Gill who happens to the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports said that with the upgrade to Synthetic Hockey Polyprolene Turf, GNDU shall be able to offer the very best for all it’s hockey players.

Dr. Manohar Singh Gill said that the Synthetic Hockey Surface at GNDU has incurred a total cost of Rs. 396 lacs. Jalandhar also witnessed the installation of a similar Synthetic Hockey surface which costs Rs. 335 lacs. The Hockey surface at Jalandhar shall have the ground ready for matches by the month of October in the current year of 2010. Similar to GNDU, Sai Sports Complex has plans in store to come up with a specially crafted Synthetic Athletic Track back at Tarn Taran. The whole setup would incur a total cost of Rs. 494 lacs and shall be made available for all athletes who shall be able to carry on their practice sessions on the synthetic surface itself. After the new Synthetic Hockey Surface was installed at GNDU, the old ground was dismantled and the total setup shall be employed by major hockey training centers in the state that includes Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Khadoor Sahib, Lyallpur Khalsa College and Tarn Taran.

The Minister told the media that apart from GNDU the Sports Authority of India has plans to install Synthetic Hockey Surfaces at the NS National Institute of Sports in Patiala. The Minister also underlined the fact that the leaders of this country should take up measures to improve the conditions of ground like that of GNDU.
