KHARAGPUR, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- IIT-JEE exam papers have witnessed a series of serious errors which have triggered a string of criticisms hurled at the IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras. It is speculated that these errors if continues to persist can affect the future of the students. The first instance of error in the IIT paper led to a verbal conflict between Prof. Rajiv Kumar from IIT Kharagpur and Prof. T.S. Natarajan from IIT Madras.
Reportedly, the IIT-JEE paper happens to be a multiple choice paper. In Section II of the paper, students can attempt the questions which might have more than one correct answer. It is mentioned in the instructions that there shall be no negative marking for wrong answers and that partial marks shall be given for partially correct answers in the exam. This very concept has not been able to gain grounds with IIT Kharagpur Prof. Rajiv Kumar who is of the opinion that such a system is a logical fallacy. He says that this can make the students score 93 points easily and they don’t have to study hard. They could just come and color the four bubbles of the answers in the Section II of the paper.
Rajeev Kumar happens to be a IIT Kharagpur computer professor and he stated in an affidavit presented before the high court that the instructions in the paper is turning out to be an undue advantage for the students. Prof. T.S. Natarajan however debated the argument placed by the IIT Kharagpur professor and said that any answer with darkened bubble other than the correct option is considered wrong. He feels that the IIT professor is creating an unnecessary fuss.
