IIT Delhi Working With Mercedes Benz

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In what is being seen as a major technological breakthrough Mercedes Benz India has tied up with IIT Delhi to develop BlueTec technology. The technology will help the giant carmaker to come up with cutting edge high performance diesel systems for its car models. The country is moving to stricter emission norms with time and the company wants to ensure that its upcoming models conform to the stringent emission norms. These engines are being touted as the most eco friendly vehicle engines in the world in the automobile industry.
This is an achievement for IIT Delhi as well as it is the first time that the reputed carmaker has joined hands with an India based academic institute. The technical director of Mercedes Benz India Piyush Arora has confirmed the news. He added that Mercedes Benz is not averse to such collaborations for taking the technology used in its cars to unprecedented heights and surpass the expectation of the customers. A few days back the carmaker reported it has caught up with rival BMW in sales volume for the current fiscal. With more luxury carmakers like Audi consolidating their presence in the Indian market, Mercedes Benz definitely does not want to be left behind.
The R&D centre of Mercedes Benz located at Bangalore has more than 350 engineers. The company has focused on making low weight models with no deficit in performance. The passenger safety is another area where the company wants to maintain the standards. The collaboration with IIT Delhi will prove to be a boon for the Indian luxury car buyers, Piyush Arora said.
