Dubai, May 24 (IANS/WAM) Authorities here have formed a council that will look into the welfare of children like safe passages, playgrounds, provisions for physical and knowledge development and care for special needs children.
The Children’s Council of the City was launched Sunday by the Dubai Municipality in cooperation with Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). The council will have 26 members.
The council will also educate children on maintaining cleanliness, protecting public properties and architectural heritage, reducing environmental pollution, among others.
“We want the participation of our children in the decision making process for the development projects of the emirate,” said Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality.
Lootah added a separate web page for the Council would be developed on the Municipality portal where children can log in and post their suggestions regarding any issues that will be taken up for discussion.
