Gulf students excel in CBSE class 12 exams

NEW DELHI - With a a pass percentage of 90.67, students from the Gulf region have outperformed their India counterparts in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams for class 12, the results for which were declared Friday.
The pass percentage of students in India was 79.87.
A total of 7,064 students appeared for the exams in March from 69 Indian schools in various Gulf countries like the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The overall pass percentage in the region recorded a marginal increase of 0.81 from last year.
Besides the Gulf, the pass percentage of students in other countries was 89.60 compared to 88.89 percent last year.
This year, 699,129 students - 408,367 boys and 290,762 girls - took the Class 12 board exams in India and abroad.
The Gulf region is home to a 4.5 million-strong Indian diaspora.
