Dubai, May 18 (IANS/WAM) Medical professionals in UAE will get some tips on sophisticated treatment methods available for female patients from a group of US experts during a workshop in Dubai next month.

The two-week “Continuing Medical Education (CME)” programme and training symposium scheduled June 6-17 is a joint initiative by the Advanced Health Education Centre of the United States and Dubai Healthcare City.

The programme will offer 20 courses focused on women’s health, nursing leadership and quality management. The courses will combine lectures, live demonstrations and practical training.

“We want to enable health care professionals in the UAE and the region to maintain their medical education by forming partnerships with providers that have an established reputation for delivering relevant and high impact programmes,” said Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center.

The programme is designed to benefit physicians who are facing increasing requirements to stay on top of the education curve, acquire new skills and learn sophisticated technology, said Benjamin A. Hertzog, Senior Vice-President for Business Development, AHEC.

During the first week, the programme will focus on hands-on training in obstetric ultrasound, gynaecologic ultrasound, breast ultrasound and ultrasound imaging of the female patients. This will followed by a five-day training in mammography.

The second week will offer courses in echocardiography interpretation, carotid ultrasound, arterial duplex ultrasound and venous reflux and deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
