Millions of school children are soon to get specialised training to counter possible terrorist attacks at their educational institutions, officials said here today.
A senior education official at Patna-based Central Board of Secondary Education today said the board is soon issuing a directive across the India asking the authorities to train school children to counter terrorist acts.
The directive is being issued under the signature of CBSE director C Gurumurthi.
It is is being issued on the instruction of Home Ministry which fears the terrorists may target schools and student hostel to invite media attentions.
Officials said the schools will be taking many preventive measures like organising mock drills at regular intervals, installing CCTVs at vantage points and training the students in counter-insurgency, as a part of tackling possible terror attacks.
Schools, so far, have been left untouched by the terrorists in India although they have targetted hotels, busy market places, trains and prominent government buildings.
