C.K. Prahalad Passes Away

SAN DIEGO (GaeaTimes.com)- C.K. Prahalad, the well known management professor of the University of Michigan, passed away this morning at his residence in San Diego. The eminent management guru from the Ross School of Business was 69 years old when he died following a brief illness.
C.K. Prahalad was born and brought up in India and spent most of his days in the city of Chennai and then Madras. After graduating with Physics from Madras University, C.K. Prahalad went on to earn a PhD from Harvard. Professor C.K. Prahalad has been the advising member in the management boards of several renowned companies around the world, like NCR Corporation, Hindustan Lever and TVS Capital Funds to name a few.
Nobody can ever forget C.K. Prahalad’s contribution to his home country. The management thinker imparted knowledge to help India’s economic development. He always supported the establishment of corporate governance in the country. The management professor who is survived by his wife, two children and grandchildren is the bearer of the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian awards of the country for his all round contribution in the field of education.
The professor who was also a management consultant and an author of management books was reportedly suffering from a bronchial infection and had trouble with his breathing. Although it has been reported that C.K. Prahalad was admitted in the hospital before his death, the news has not been confirmed, with most reports suggesting that the professor passed away at his own home. His death is being considered a great loss in the management sphere and in several big companies around the world.
