English subject teachers in the state-run high schools in Bihar are being imparted special training to improve their spoken English skills and capacity building.

The training is being imparted by British Lingua, an English language training institute.

The move follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between British Lingua managing director Dr Birbal Jha and State Council of Educational Research and Training director Hasan Waris recently.

“The overall objective is to bring out a radical change in English education in Bihar”, a spokesman of British Lingua Umesh Chandra said today.

He said the month-long residential training programme is designed for all English subject teachers of government-run or aided high schools in Bihar.

So far, the training has been imparted to the teachers in Bhagalpur and Banka districts.
