Education and Technology expo opens in Dubai

Dubai, April 14 (IANS/WAM) Hundreds of universities from 40 countries will take part in the four-day global education and technology exhibition GETEX 2010, beginning Wednesday in Dubai.

The event, which will run until April 17, will showcase a comprehensive range of educational tools and solutions displayed under two segments - Student Recruitment and Education Equipment, and Technology.

More than 400 international universities from 40 countries are taking part in the event organised at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE minister of higher education and scientific research.

The Global Forum on Technology and Innovation in Teaching and Leading, a separate exhibition-cum-conference for teachers, is one of the major attractions at the show.

The forum will offer in-depth discussions about emerging technologies and strategies for integration, communication and collaboration tools, and digital age teaching tools and resources, including online learning, Web 2.0 tools and multimedia.

Career counselling for students and young business professionals, interactive sessions between employers and students of various disciplines are also part of the event.

“Getex Dubai 2010 will serve as an ideal platform to gather detailed information on various scholarship and internship opportunities,” said Anselm Godinho, managing director, International Conferences and Exhibitions, which has organised the event.

“Also, students who are keen on studying abroad can get an in-depth understanding of the requirements of various international universities and even the enrolment process,” Godinho added.
