CHANDIGARH - British High Commissioner Richard Stagg Tuesday expressed keen interest in Haryana’s Rajiv Gandhi Education City (RGEC), coming up at Kundli town in Sonepat district.

“Education has become a global activity. We are enthusiastic about Haryana’s education city and even the vice-chancellor of the Oxford University is also keen to see it and to know more about it,” Stagg said here.

“Such projects (education city) would yield mutual benefits as education is a big area of collaboration between the two countries,” he added.

RGEC, being developed on 2007.6 acres on National Highway-1 at Sonipat, some 40 km from New Delhi, is envisaged as a hub for higher learning and a centre for research in cutting edge technologies.

The total investment in the selected institutions will be more than Rs.1,000 crore.
