NEW DELHI - Disputes involving students, teachers and employees of higher education institutes and matters related to affiliation and accreditation of these institutes will be decided by a new education tribunal, Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said Friday.
The cabinet cleared the Education Tribunal Bill, 2010 today. The tribunal will solve many disputes of the higher educational institutes, Sibal added.
Other than a national educational tribunal, all the states will also have such tribunal, he said, describing it as a historic step for reforming education.
The national tribunal will work as an appellate body which will adjudicate issues pertaining to regulatory bodies in higher education and also matters related to institutions located in two and more states.
It would also act as an appellate body against the orders of the state education tribunals. The government intends to bring the bill in the current session of parliament, the ministry authorities said.
