MINNEAPOLIS (GaeaTimes.com)- After an anonymous shooting threat was posted on the internet, the Minneapolis public schools have been shut down by the authorities. The threat was found Wednesday on two popular social networking sites, as the cops have confirmed. A Sergeant working with the Minneapolis Police named Jesse Garcia said that the miscreants who posted the online threat wrote that they would start shooting and thereafter will kill themselves. However, they did not mention any particular school and so the authorities did not take any chance and shut down all school buildings in the districts on Wednesday.
Jesse Garcia further said that the cops have not brushed aside the threat issued, that resulted in the shutdown of classes in Minneapolis public schools . The police are trying to find out who are involved with posting the threat. According to Emily Lowther, who is the District spokeswoman, the school shutdown has forced more than 30,000 students from staying away from their classes. However, the guardians of those students have been alerted about this development. As soon as the situation improves, they will be informed. However, the closure may not continue for a long time as it is being assumed.
Early investigation has traced the root of the posts to Australia. The incidents of shooting and killing at various US colleges and universities have put the government and education authorities on tenterhooks. They cannot afford to take such threats lightly. That explains why the Minneapolis public schools were shut down immediately after the online threat post was found. The investigation is still on.
